Lip Flip or Botox- Which is Better?

a woman's lips after receiving lip injections in New York City with Dr. Anil Shah

At Aesthetic Skin we offer a variety of lip enhancements. Some patients opt for traditional lip filler, while others choose a lip flip technique. A question that patients sometimes ask is, “Which is better, Botox or a lip flip?” In this video, Dr. Anil Shah explains the key differences between a lip flip, Botox injections in the lips, and a lip lift. He also highlights who is a good candidate for each type of lip procedure and the pros and cons for each treatment.

So a question from someone is whether I like lip flips or Botox. And we'll kind of dive into that a little bit. So first of all, a lip flip. My definition of a lip flip is anytime you sort of put neurotoxin on the top part of your lip and it shortens that distance. so that's a lip flip. And then lip flip or Botox. And usually I do that with Botox. So to me it's like they're kind of the thing. And maybe they mean lip lift where I actually remove things, soft tissue left at the deep tissues and kind of create that shortening. Actually, I like in a lot of patients. And so for me, if it's a choice between surgery or a choice between Botox, I think it really depends on the patient. If it's someone in their 20s and if their lips a little flatter and we put a few units of Botox, obviously they're going to be a good candidate for that. But maybe someone in their 60s where their skin has been stretched and maybe like a little bit longer than it used to be. It's going to be more of a surgical candidate. And then there's all the patients who are in between where you're trying to see the right balance. Is it worth having that scar, no matter how hidden the scar? versus having, neurotoxin? And, the answer becomes individual questions. So to me, it's not that one is better than the other. It's about matching the procedure with what the patient wants.
